Hey there! We are a small indie studio called Bird Pals and we are working on Birds with Feelings, a cozy turn based strategy game where feelings matter.

History

How We Hatched

Bird Pals consists of Sebastian Larsson and Jazeps Rutkis. We are a tiny studio based in Latvia making cozy emotional games. Bird Pals was originally conceived at the gamejam Game Camps Estonia spring 2017, where Jazeps and Sebastian met and started working together. The initial prototype of Birds with Feelings ended up winning the gamejam, and they decided to continue development during freetime. Bird Pals work completely externally - Jazeps in Latvia and Sebastian from Sweden. We also employ freelancers from Finland, Argentina, Sweden, Latvia and the US. Since the initial gamejam Birds with Feelings have been steadily growing, starting out as an experiment and now a fully fledged strategy game. The game is now in the last phases of development and set to launch 2019.

About Birds With Feelings

Birds with Feelings is a turn based strategy game where everybirdy are birds and feelings matter. Set in a world populated entirely by birds, the player takes control of a squad of bird diplomats determined to stop a war entirely through conversations. On top of this everybirdy has feelings; feelings affect combat, and feelings change depending on what the player lets happen to their birds. Every game round in Birds with Feelings plays a bit like a game of Sudoku – birds are placed on a grid and then has a conversation with their opponents in an attempt to befriend them. The difference is that every bird has feelings, and their feelings change depending on if they are left alone or spends time with other birds, if they succeed or they lose, if they get to participate or are left on the sidelines. It is up to the player to not only thrive in the current confrontation but also to guide the feelings of their team to be beneficial in future encounters.
